Colorado colours....

Life has carried on as usual here....basketball games, movies, dinners, snowboarding, exploring.....
The snowboarders are loving it...and getting better each time they head up to the mountains.....Jakeb is in the white jacket, Joshuah in the maroon and red one and Stuart in the blue.  Not bad for not even having seen snow 3 months ago!!
We have been to a few basketball games which we are loving and I guess it helps that "our team"...the Denver Nuggets have been on a big winning streak.  The crowds are amazing with a great atmosphere at the games.  It takes about 20 mins to drive to the stadium and the same home, so it is really easy.  It's the first time we have lived anywhere where we are close to these sorts of events, so we are making the most of it and it is so cheap to go to the games...the last lot of tickets were $12 each!!
The last game was against the Memphis Grizzlies and the Nuggets won after being down 1/2 way through the 4th quarter...it was so exciting.

                                                                  Denver city centre....
We came across a beautiful State Park....about a 10 min drive from the house and Stuart and I went there as the sun was going down one Sunday evening....it was a beautiful, crisp evening, with snow still around and an abundant bird life.

We drove to Georgetown on Friday night after the basketball and stayed the night there to avoid the morning mountain traffic....everyone heads to the mountains to ski/snowboard and it is bumper to bumper traffic. I have been told it is the same in summer as people use the lakes for boating etc.  Georgetown is off the busy I 70 and is a nice respite from all the traffic.
The next morning we headed towards the mountains to find it snowing....this is great for snowboarding and really picturesque, but when you're heading out to see the sights, it makes visibility poor, so we changed direction!
We ended up in an area in and around Evergreen and were treated to some pretty speccy scenery.....
Thanks Stu for making me look tall and for not falling off the edge while you did it...love ya!!!
Fortunately Stu was able to wander out on to the frozen lake in Evergreen and offer some ice fishing advice to the locals who have been doing this for years...and he even managed to do that without falling over on the ice!! Impressive Stu!!
Sunday evening we drove to Chatfield State Park in Denver.....it is a large parkland with an abundance of wildlife...the sun was going down and it was a quiet, peaceful space...really lovely, and we saw some deer in the wild...a nice end to the weekend.
So life is pretty good here and we are making the most of our surroundings, however there is a huge issue staring us in the face, and I'm not sure how we are going to overcome it. We're running out of Vegemite!!

  2. Found a jar online for $17 and then you pay postage!! I think Stu has a"tube"of it at school that he is going to have to share!! He made Vegemite sandwiches at school for the staff (which most of them hated)...such a waste of our "Black Gold"!!

    1. Ha, thanks Debb....I got the sympathy vote as far as Vegemite goes and got some sent over, as well as some for my birthday and some Americans bought some back from home as well...so the Vegemite situation is pretty good at the moment!! Glad you're enjoying the blog.....we are pretty lucky to be able to experience this!
