Denver sights with Mum...

During the week while mum was here I took her to Garden of the Gods near Colorado Springs (another favourite place of mine, with the gorgeous Kimberley/Pilbara colours),
an ice hockey game....the local team is the Colorado Avalanche.  We had been to a game earlier in the year and were nonplussed by it all, so I am glad to report that this game was far more eventful and we all really enjoyed it...despite being pretty cold!  Oh, and they won.
Wyoming was next on the list (I love Wyoming...not sure why...just do!) and we went for a drive up there with Mum, Sharon and Sharon's sister and nephew. On the way we stopped at Fort Collins in Colorado...what a lovely town....especially these gorgeous pianos in the main square.
All those years of piano lessons and 6am piano practices haven't paid off as I attempted a tune? on this piano.....and I managed to make Chopsticks sound even worse than normal.
We had a coffee in a lovely little coffee shop...fireplace, big comfy leather chairs...I felt like I was on Friends!!  And these big pots of plants were everywhere in the streets..looks like a cabbage to me!
Next stop was Cheyenne, Wyoming....
and we spent the afternoon browsing the shops,
while the girls bought their cowboy boots and I bought mine....to hang on the Christmas tree...
Halloween is HUGE, HUGE, HUGE here!  Unbelievable. I found a house not far from this house, that has one of the better Halloween displays I have seen...
there are pumpkin patches EVERYWHERE...where you choose a pumpkin to carve or display or both,
and then mum and I ventured in to Halloween City..a shop that sells Halloween stuff.  It was pretty gruesome, but they did have fairy wings and princess dresses amongst all this...
We were pretty glad to hit Macy's and see some "prettier" displays, albeit a little early....
Stu did a couple of school visits during this week, one up in the mountains and we had to stop to take photos at another of my favourite spots, just on the side of the road, driving up to Evergreen...the sound of the water rushing through the gorge, the way the colours have changed over the year...I love it.
oh and did I mention...the "Fall" colours are extraordinary!!!
