Grand Junction and Telluride, Colorado

March 1, 2015
After picking up the hire car,
our first port of call had to be Red Rocks.  It's such a beautiful venue and held great memories for us...Sharon, Lindsay, Stuart and I watching Keith Urban perform there in 2013.  There was still plenty of snow around which adds to the beauty.

Our first night on the road was at Grand Junction, staying with Linda (CITEL), where we had stayed a few times.  She is great fun and always makes us feel welcome and comfortable.  We didn't get there till late and enjoyed a quick catch up before bed.
The next morning Linda suggested we drive to Telluride, in San Miguel County.
Originally it was a silver mining camp and is now a ski resort town during winter and a Festival hub during summer. a lovely drive that took us a couple of hours, driving through the small town of Ridgeway which is close to the Dennis Weaver Memorial Park (McCloud).
Telluride is quite small, but has multi million dollar homes for the rich and famous as well as homes for the everyday person.
and we took a free gondola ride up the mountain to check it out from up high.

The streets are wide as are a lot of these old towns and a shopping mecca for tourists, but fortunately it was pretty quiet the day we were there.
There were some lovely old homes
and one even had matching colours with its mode of transport...is this a prerequisite?
After a couple of hours of looking around we headed back to Grand Junction with beautiful views surrounding us...
ending the day with Linda and John at a Mexican restaurant, where my faith in Margaritas was restored after my first attempt at drinking one during Cinco de Mayo in Denver in 2013 was very unsuccessful. Delicious food and really enjoyable company!
Linda and John gave us some great suggestions as to where we should head to the following day, and the next morning we were Utah bound!
